Sylvan Learning of Lee County has been part of the Southwest Florida community for almost 40 years, with three centers serving families in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Estero/Bonita Springs. Through all that time, we've had the same local ownership and the same mission. While continuing to adapt to the changing needs of families and education, our mission has remained the same: To help every student build the skills, confidence, and independence they need to succeed, both inside and outside the classroom.
That mission has guided us for nearly four decades, allowing us to build lasting relationships with families throughout Southwest Florida. In fact, we're now working with multiple generations of students! Equally meaningful is watching students grow beyond academics, whether it's a child who once dreaded math approaching problems with confidence or a student proudly accomplishing something they once thought was impossible.
These moments remind us why we do what we do and that Sylvan is about so much more than tutoring. We're helping students build confidence, develop independence, and change the way they approach learning and life.
A Proven System, Personalized for Every Student
Our Sylvan Sync Math, Reading, and Writing programs focus on strengthening foundational skills. We begin with our Sylvan Sync Assessment, which allows us to identify each student's strengths, pinpoint gaps in their understanding, and determine where to begin. One of the most important parts of our approach is that we meet students where they are academically, rather than where they're expected to be based on their grade level. We don't want students starting from a place of frustration, but from a place where they have the foundation to build confidence and experience real success. We combine what we learn through the assessment with input from parents and what's happening in the classroom to create a flexible, personalized learning plan. As students master skills, we adjust instruction to introduce new challenges, reinforce concepts that need more attention, and keep them moving forward. Regular communication with parents is an important part of that process, allowing us to discuss their child's needs, share what they're working on, and celebrate their growth along the way.
Supporting Students at Every Stage
Whether students need help catching up, keeping up, getting ahead, or preparing for college, we're here to support them. From elementary students building essential reading and math skills to high school students working through Algebra, Geometry, and advanced math, our programs adapt to students' changing needs. Our Homework Support program also helps students at all grade levels with current assignments across a wide range of subjects, either as a standalone program or combined with Sylvan Sync to address immediate classroom needs while closing learning gaps. |  |
 | Our support extends beyond traditional tutoring. We work with homeschool families to provide academic instruction and reinforcement that complements their educational goals. We also offer SAT and ACT Prep, advanced subject tutoring, and College Planning services to help high school students prepare for their next steps, strengthen their college applications, and increase their opportunities for admission and merit scholarships. |

 | While our research-based curriculum provides the foundation for academic growth, it's our team that brings it to life. Our team includes certified reading teachers and math instructors with bachelor's degrees or higher in mathematics, all bringing their knowledge, experience, and passion for education into every session. They understand that learning looks different for every child and know how to adapt their approach, encourage students through challenges, and celebrate their successes. We also use positive reinforcement through our token system, recognizing students for their hard work and accomplishments to help build motivation and make learning a positive experience. Our Directors play an equally important role, building meaningful relationships with students and families and helping ensure every child feels supported throughout their journey. |
